Summary of Duties: Using established policies and procedures to develop and improve process, tooling, CNC programs, and all documentation for new and existing parts to achieve maximum utilization and efficiency of human, material, and machine assets.  Considers the safety of personnel, equipment, machinery and the facility at all times.  Address and solve manufacturing problems regarding continuous, on-going improvement of process and methods to increase productivity and quality while reducing cost.  Work assignments are of moderate variety and complexity with access to technical guidance of more experienced staff and direct supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work and maintain a safe and positive environment
  • Obtain and maintain knowledge on all appropriate equipment and process including; screw machines, swiss lathes, CNC lathes, mills, multi-spindles, etc.
  • Manage and communicate effectively with outside services to develop capable processes. Heat Treating, Plating, Grinding, Honing…
  • Develop layouts, process plans, and CNC programs for machining centers.
  • Work with Quality Control and Production to develop plans for part manufacturing.
  • Provide process plans and cycle times for quoting new work
  • Maintain engineering paperwork, records, documents, drawing, etc. completely and accurately.
  • Recommend sourcing of supplies, service, tools, and equipment from outside venders.
  • Participate on and sometimes lead cross functional teams
  • Ability to interpret customer standards and able to build processes for part manufacturing to satisfy their requirements.
  • All other duties as assigned

 Skills:

  • Blueprint reading and understanding tolerancing including GD&T is a must
  • Strong machining knowledge including tooling, speeds, feeds, and material types
  • Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control charts and capability studies
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Working knowledge of MRP and material flow.  Experience with Visual Manufacturing is Plus
  • Strong math skill
  • Organization and punctuality to meet project deadline is a must; self-motivated
  • Be proficient with CAD and CAM software such as Inventor, AutoCAD, and PartMaker

Education Level: Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering or equivalent

Education Level: A Bachelor’s Degree in business or related manufacturing field is not required but would be a plus.
